About the book

Drawn from nearly four decades in medicine and years of teaching geriatric care to nursing students, Important Tips for Caregivers is a clear, practical guide for the people who look after the elderly — whether family members or hired caregivers.

It begins with the caregiver themselves — their role, their skills, and how to avoid burnout — then moves through the physiology of aging and the everyday realities of care: nutrition, medication safety, sleep, and body-temperature problems. The heart of the book is a set of focused chapters on the conditions caregivers meet most often, including dementia and Alzheimer's, delirium, depression, diabetes in older adults, urinary and chest infections, heart failure, incontinence, and pressure sores — each with its warning signs, prevention, and day-to-day care.

Written in plain language and published in both Arabic and simplified English, it is meant to sit within reach on a shelf and be opened when a question comes up.

"The elderly are who we were yesterday — and who we will be tomorrow."

Nursing Care of Elderly

Nursing Care of Elderly is a comprehensive course text drawn from Dr. Tarabay's years teaching geriatric nursing, prepared in line with the official Lebanese curriculum for technical nursing students (BT3 & TS3).

It opens with the foundations — gerontology, theories of aging, and the physiological changes that come with age — then builds toward assessment of the older patient and the everyday essentials of care: nutrition, medication safety, sensory changes, mobility, and rehabilitation. The larger part of the book is organized condition by condition, covering the illnesses most common in older adults — dementia and delirium, depression, grief, diabetes, heart failure, respiratory disease, anemia, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, incontinence, pressure injuries, and more — each with its causes, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, and nursing care. It closes with reference tables, abbreviations, and sources.
